hey dan i was quite shocked and see mike like that , as a young person i really enjoyed his writings.

a guy i knew at my gym did a phone consultation with mike said it was great, he said mike talked to him for over 3 hrs even though

he only paid for a half hr. he did get pretty cut and big fallowing mikes advice.

supposibly mike got in to good shape in 1993 but after that let himself go .

i still to this day feel he was the most talented writer out of any bodybuilder,

i remember when that piece of shit bob chic was talking shit about mike on here,

mike was a much better bodybuilder and writer than that overated piece of shit ever was, bob couldnt even win a pro show or crack the top 10 at an

Mike had his issues but was a good person, Samir still sings his praises in terms of character.Bob has zero decorum.

Imo it's what cost him a higher placing in the 1980 Olympia, you just couldn't stand next to Arnold's chesticles looking like that.

I actually know someone with this problem, he looks like someone punched his ribcage in.

I think in Mike's case it's because he dieted like a retard, his Heavy Duty nutrition book has terrible advice.

Mike had the most perfect physique than any other bodybuilder in the history of bodybuilding.Simply incredible,I wonder if it can ever be done again.A Ron backer is the only other that came close.please don't mention flex,while he was great it was far from perfect.

As I previously mentioned, Mike was overall depleted at the 1980 Mr. O. He was FAR MORE impressive in the late 70's when up against guys like Zane and Robinson.

He had average arms. And look at that tricep shot. No real separation. Like looking at a Sergio pic, and we know how Sergio wasn't known for conditioning. Average arms, average build. Both Mike and Ray. The only thing that made Mike famous was his system and his meltdown that was induced by Arnold. And that is what I believe colors your perception. Take that away, and he is just an average decent physique for the time.

Most of the world thinks the cadaver look so popular today is disgusting. Mentzer had enough definition. Same with Zane, Arnold and others.

Agree... and i do not understand the negative posts on getbig about Zane. He went for an Apollon look and it won him Mr O.. He was not like most Bodybuilders but went for "his" own look and ideas what perfection is. I think Mike & Ray were the same but went in another direction regarding training and their ideal physique. Bodybuilders come and go but these guys are etched in the History of Bodybuilding.

Both Mentzers were overrated.

Mike found a nice niche with his Heavy Duty training regimen and it got him the magazine coverage he needed to place well in his contests. Once he started challenging the "Weider Principles" he paid for it with his contest placings
