I agree. But what is the point of competing in bodybuilding if you don't have the genetics for that?

Because its what they love doing?
I know I don't have the genetics to compete even at the national level. If I make it to the provincials and place top 10 I'll be happy lol. But I can't see myself not training, dieting, and doing cardio. I love doing it, its something that makes me happy and keeps me going.

A lot of guys have serious hobbies, e.g., golf, skiing, cycling, etc., that they're not genetically disposed towards. Yet they're out there every day chasing the dream. And these hobbies aren't cheap either. Whatever makes you happy.

Ditto.  Bay likey!  :D

For some reason I can't explain, I am getting utterly tired of this guy, despite that he seems like a nice guy.

Poor genetics are the cornerstone of what Bay likey! Balding, muscle gut, big legs... torn muscles somewhere.

Art Atwood is one good example.

I hear you. I understand the part of following a BBing lifestyle by passion, but imho the competition part should be reserved to those who have passion AND genetics. What is the point in competing if you dont have the slightest chance to win?

You don't have to understand it.

The only way you would understand it, is if you where doing it also.

i had a convo with a british pro a little while back, he was taken aback when i called the sport shit... i made the point of guys spending big bucks chasing the dream yr after year and getting no where, his answer to that was ' do what ever makes you happy in life, if you want to spend all your money on fishing boats/cars etc etc, long as it keeps you happy who gives a fuck.... i think thats a great attitude to it all, you get too negative if you spend too much time on here

It isn't a sport any more than a beauty pageant is.

Real bodybuilding prep 101.

He's been competing a long time and has had significant health issues. Maybe he should give it a rest or at least compete comfortably in the open.

I disagree, cardio and weights everyday, perfect diets, living the life of a dedicated athlete.... The actual contest is beauty contest'ish, the preparation in getting there is the 'sport'

Is this because these characteristics make them seem more vulnerable or open to being manipulated into allowing Bay to fulfill his fantasies?

Don't forget, this board is filled with people who have shattered dreams paralysed by fear and self doubt.
