It's been going on for a few days now. Started off with English fans getting into scraps with local French Arab youths. Now Russian fans have got involved who appear to be seasoned brawlers.
I also heard there were clashes with Northern Irish and Polish fans.

I cringe when I hear work colleagues or friends talking football in their lingo as if it makes them "one of the lads"...they always say you're queer if you don't follow it...yet forget it's 98 percent guys watching other guys kick a ball about. I'm fine with most other sports but football/soccer attracts a lot of unimaginative pricks.

I quite enjoy watching those organized mass brawls between rival Russian fans.

I remember sitting in a Pub during an England vs Austria match and it being full of English fans. Once the Austrian Hooligans detected them, all hell broke loose - I've never felt so overwhelmed by seeing my surroundings just explode... it was almost like the brutes were one aggressive organism.
Nonetheless I have to admit that as a bystander you weren't attacked - they still seemed to have some "group" ethics.

The scene is low key but huge. One of my professors used to join a club and never regretted it - for some adventurous high flyers belonging to them is some sort of thrill... Clockwork Orange like. These are the stories the media will never air.

Of course it's laughable if you compare it to countries like Poland where Hooligans would be able to build a standing Army and project territorial power.

I mean I accept this soccer hooliganism over muslim/black riots ANY given day. But at the same time I'm frustrated, because there's so much potential for the radic soccer fans to unite and start lynching every muslim that comes accross, I mean there's so much potential.

Many of these hooligans probably have affiliations with some far right groups. The EDL (English Defence League) were originally made up of members of the Luton Town MIGs, the hooligan fraction of Luton Town's soccer team.
