As stated above, I'm not a fan of these superhero movies which Hollywood has been making lately (with a couple of exceptions which I'll do my best to recall below) but family members are involved in the making of these films and I usually ask why such and such a story-line is not considered or why such and such an actor is not considered for a lead role as one of the many superheros on the 'market today.
First of all here are those 'couple of exceptions' the titles of which I'll will not mention as a test to see how many superhero fans are on this GetBig Board.
1. Three teen age friends become 'superheros' after coming in contact with a 'rock' in a cave and have to learn to 'adapt' in accordance with their new abilities. I saw this one a while back so that is only the partial synopsis that I can recall.
2. An unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a superhero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.
I recommended each of the above films to every movie fan I knew back then
Each was a script with teenagers playing the principal roles (with he exception of Nicholas Cage) describing the trials and tribulations of growing up with abilities somewhat different than their peers.
I do realize that Spiderman is/was a teen and some of these 'trials and tribulations' were included as 'background material' in the script .... but in my humble opinion ... more should have been emphasized in an effort to make the story more realistic and up to date.
So I have been 'recommending' that some scriptwriter get to work on a script that would involve itself with the realistic trials and tribulations in which a teenaged superhero (Superboy for instance) would possible be involved with while going through his teenage years.
Is Hollywood ready for a small budget, teenage Superhero who faces the routine trials and tribulations faced by those going through their teenage years???
There would be no need for intergalactic creatures nor excessive scenes of mass destruction nor million dollar actors in principal roles ..... just one of these muscled-out NPC Physique winners in the superhero role who faces the trials and tribulations of any normal teenager today.
The above is just a basic idea that could motivate some Hollywood script writer and fight the battle that it takes to make a small budget, superhero, motion picture in LA today.
Although Superman was not a teenager when he placed that trucker's vehicle on top of that telephone pole, for some reason I though that that brief scene was one of the best in that movie and showed how he handled complications without resorting to violence.
Other than that. I have no idea why this one scent impressed me so much .... but it did start me thinking about a simple and low budgetd feature superhero film about the complications of being a superhero as a teen in today's environment.
Any ideas or recommendations?
