I have to admit that it appears that I am the only GetBigger who knows nor cares anything about today's supplements nor the industry which make or sell these supplements .... except for the handful who started their own sup business years ago such as Rheo H. Blair, Rich Gaspari, Lee Labrada, Dr. Connelly and Jeff Everson, the creator to MLO whose name I have forgotten (Mallard Williamson???) and a few others including Paul Bragg whom most of you have never heard of.
And of course 'Uncle' Joe was selling bottles of Gain Weight which had a familiar taste to watered-down Geritol
One of the names that I've forgotten is the old timer in the 60's who could throw a football further than I could see. I've mentioned him before but he came up with protein "wafers" packaged somewhat similar to Life Savers which were only sold in out of the way drug stores and never advertised.
Oh yea! That was Gypsy Boots! (Sorry, Gypsy, but my mind is slipp'en)
I've been around the bodybuilding neighborhood more than a few times and ..... in the good old days you could only purchase wheat germ oil and yogurt because nothing else of importance really existed.
And back then you had to purchase those items in a little out of the way store that sold numerous brands of suppositories and other old fart shit .... all of which was of questionable value. (I think the suppositories worked though!)
(Sound familiar?? Some things never change!)
And then some genius of a kid came up with advertising gimmicks and got the interest of youngsters and oldsters who desired to make personal, physical improvements even thought they ofter claimed that the Snake Oil Salesman was in town.
But eventually the business grew and made millionaires of a good number of 'kids' who I still see maybe once a year at a convention of some social gathering.
And we talk about the good old days when no one had two nickels to rub together.
I meant to simply say that I had no idea who Boston Lloyd is ... nor the names of the companies who actually mix the components that go into the cans and bottles that sit on the shelves that make millionaires of acquaintances from the past ... but I got carried away.
Sorry about that!
But what companies mix this stuff anyway?
