Melvin, you have no shame and very little class. No wonder you resort to insults instead of accepting good advice.

I am doing quite well and have no complaints. Life has been good to me and I still enjoy what I do.

You are in your 70's and you live in a fucking warehouse.  .....sad.

Just got back home from closing and its all done.   I'm now a homeowner.   I also found out to my astonishment that there is a high speed internet provider, Vivint, in the area I'm in which will save me a lot of money overall along with allowing me to do my online gaming since I'll get 100MPS speeds if I want to. ;D

What do those exorbitantly high HOA fees cover?

Thread was not created for advice.  Plan for home has been in the works for over a year so I don't need another month.  Lets just say that I'm old enough to make decisions

Also, maybe it's too late for this advice, but: think about staying in your current place for a month or so, and give those brand new materials some time to process out a little.  Let's just say it won't hurt your health to do that, certainly.

Apparently he has no problem breathing in all those potentially toxic emissions.  Maybe he likes the fresh scent of formaldehyde. ;)

Congratulations Vince,

Also glad you have the high speed internet, seems like only yesterday we had to get our movie choices at the video store

Formaldehyde is in practically every product in life.  You buy a new car, that fresh car smell is just that....sigh.  It will be gone in a week in terms of smell

If you pay $95 a mo HOA fee you're a bottom wife.

Interesting....  If someone hires a gardener, would it make them a bottom wife even though they have no husband?

I paid for the land but it has a management fee on it...195.00 a month.  The other property I have is all wooded area (investment property)....would cost way too much to clear and set up.   I can grow a garden if I want but it will likely be in pots if I was to do something.

Even without DSL or cable internet, it gets a good 4G cell phone signal so I'll just use a Samsung DEX device.  I'll get Dish or Direct TV to cover my entertainment needs likely although I am also considering HughesNet Gen 5.  I'm checking with my currect provider ATT as to what I use each month.  But iy doesnt matter.....its all about the location

He pays $195/month management fees.

What services does that management fee include? Townhouses and condos generally come with association fees which cover all exterior maintenance, basic cable and garbage.

Just looked up a million dollar home with HOA's cheaper than yours

Was it a single family home or a condo? Single family homes around here have pretty low HOA's that don't cover much of anything.

I suspect he's talking about the building's materials, such as carpeting, off-gassing VOC's which are sometimes toxic.

VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, are chemical byproducts found in many building supplies and products. Treated wood, insulation, carpeting, paints and cabinets all contain VOCs that will evaporate or off-gas into the air.

Warehouses which have been converted to condo's/lofts are in demand in bigger cities around the world. Here is a photo of one in Melbourne, Australia.

Pretty nice and very trendy.

Point is he's getting sodomized and it's actually $195 a month and probably going up every year. Could have bought a real house for the cost of this cardboard shack and fees. Absolute hilarious fail.

Once everyone sees the home, they'll see that it is a magnificent dwelling....especially with the decor I'll be putting in.   Time to bring some class to Getbig.
