Over the past few years the computer and a few other unforeseen inventions have drastically changed just about everything I've ever witnessed or experienced during my lifetime .... and I am trying to 'predict' how these changes will continue over the next 10 to 20 years within the world of bodybuilding and physical fitness.
Fon one outside example .... the GoPro camera has opened up a new world for tens of thousands of dare-devils who want to hop into a wing suit and record their flight off a mountain top.
Or shooting 'footage' while scaling the side of a cliff thousands of feet above some Australian valley without anything but their finger-tip and toes.
Or surfing monstrous waves off some unknown beach on some unknown Australian coastline.
As a kid I never thought that any of this was possible (skateboards were home-made 'toys' back then .... but now YouTube and other similar websites have convinced me that what used to be impossible is common-place today simply because 'someone' saw it done due to a little GoPro camera and a shit-load of guts .... and decided to give it a try while looking for the next impossible thing to do.
But the world of muscle has been a bit of the 'same-old, same-old' for a good number of years ......
UNTIL RECENTLY .......
And it's changing faster than anyone imagined!
Now it appears that everyone wants to get into the act ... and the NPC and numerous other sanctioning bodies are giving them the opportunity to do so.
So what changes will be happening within the next few years?
Here's a couple of strong possibilities to look forward to or to procrastinate about:
1. The demise of bodybuilding and fitness magazines. Why print anything related to the world of muscle when any individual can 'print it' himself/herself/itself immediately on the internet? Now a days no one needs a magazine to promote oneself. Five years and they just might all be gone except for those which are successful on the internet.
2. The popularity of 'classic bodybuilding' or whatever it may be called in the not too distant future. Like it or not ... it's going to catch on and grow immensely without too much of an adverse affect on today's current competitive pro bodybuilding popularity as the fans will always want to see the mass monsters and how much huger they can actually be.
3. But I can also assure you that this thing called 'hatred' within the world of muscle will never change. It's inherent but some .... but not by all!
It is possible that 'haters' hate simple due to the fact that they have never participated.
But what the fook do I know. The only thing I hate are doughnuts without the jelly in the middle.
Any additional thoughts from the GetBig gang?!
People can get steroids very easily now. Being a bodybuilder isn't a freak of nature anymore...its whats expected, especially from women.
I remember watching a Charlie's Angles episode called Mr. Galaxy. I remember saying to myself, Wow...that guy is huge. I just looked it up on YouTube the other day and now I said to myself...that guy is small. It was Roger Callard.
The changes that will keep happening is getting bigger and bigger regardless of the preggo belly look. Untill it hits them in the pocket books nothing will change.
