Durant was never happy OKC let a star in the making in Harden just walk away.  Harden on that team may have meant at least 1 championship by now.

Goodness.  Maybe two.   That team was amazing and they were barely figuring it out.

Russell Westbrook loves the move

without durant  he'll be the scoring leader again if he stays healthy=more money when he's a free agent.

He wants a ring and I would have more respect for him (which right now is none) if he just said that.

We will see how it works out.  Sometimes you can have to many cooks in the kitchen and I can't see Curry not wanting to be "the man".

Well, Curry has had no problem letting Klay Thompson take over when it was needed

Their offense will be insane but it still does shut to help their defense that allowed Lebron and Irving to score 41 each in a close out game for the championship.

especially when he'll leave for 2 years, get a ring, then probably return to OKC.

Why would that make a difference? He's entitled to have more than one reason and in his statement he came as close as possible without saying "i'm taking my talents to ca for a ring". Like him or hate him, he's leaving with a modicum of class. (And, honestly, part of me does see this as kind of classless, but realistically, he should put himself and his legacy first.)

You really think that'll be the case? Lebron returned to his hometown, all his homies are on his payroll. He's famous everywhere, but it does not compare to how he's viewed in Ohio. And how much they hated him when he left. You think Durant will have the same incentive to return?

I'm just bitter because I wanted him to come to Boston.

guys who play for 4-5 teams look like shit in the long term.

and who knows what girlfriends, buddies, businesses, etc, that he has going in the OKC area now.   Maybe even his hair restoration doctor.

I'm just saying, in 2 years, if he leaves GS with a ring (or likely 2 lol), I can see him returning to OKC if he's pushing 30, has a chick or a few kids in OKC, and it's just easy and close.

He has no allegiance to OKC.  Seattle picked him and then the franchise moved to OKC. No one, fucking no one has ever said " when I'm older I want to play in OKC".  Don't forget this is not the first time he flirted with leaving. He almost left 4-5 years ago when he was a free agent. He already gave the team a second chance and instead of luring in a big name they let one go and brought in scrub players.  I don't blame him.  He's smart. He signed a 1 year deal. If he hates it in GS he'll still have 30 options next year with a max deal.  He owes OKC fuck all.  If anything they owe him for making them relevant.

I'm not saying he owes them, ala LeBron.

I'm just saying by the time a man is 27, as he is now, he likely has a network of friends, business, professional partners, side bitches and main bitches, kids, and others.  Many part of his empire and personal life will remain in OKC.

If he's 30, he has a ring, and he has to decide on a new city, I think OKC will have a better than average chance because all of these connections he's made.

lebron didn't return to CLE because it was the best shot to win - he did it so babymama could raise kids with grandma, and other legacy/hometown reasons.   Once a player has a ring, I think they make decisions based on life, more than on the game.

Everyone predicted Lebron this city or that.... I knew it was akron from his woman's tweets and other things, while they were still in the playoffs.  I called it on getbig -Lebron back to CLE - before spurs beat their miami asses that year.   It wasn't about "best chance to win" at that point.

Wrong there. Durant has a home in LA that he spends his off season in. He's been hanging out in Cali as much as he could.  All he does in OKC is play ball. His life is lived outside of there.

He wants a ring and after watching what Lebron did to win his ring for Cleveland, my guess is he thinks the only way to beat Cleveland the next couple of years would be on Golden st.
