Is Phil Heath the most dominant Mr. O ever?
« on: July 13, 2016, 04:01:21 PM »
Even the haters know it's a foregone conclusion that Phil will win again.

There has been a lack of competition for years now -- no "battle" whatsoever.

Sure Ronnie was a better bodybuilder, but at least he could be beat. Phillip, on the other hand, has to beat Branch, a 50 year old Levrone, and a 60 year old Dexter.

That doesn't spell dominance. That spells lack of competition.

It has nothing to do with being dominant.  The depth of field sucks today, that's why Phil has won so many times.

Send Phil back into the mid-90's... could he win even one Mr. O?  I doubt it.

No Dorian is and always will be. It's a fact.

Dorian win/loss percentage is 88.2% , Phil's is 64.7% even lower than Haneys which is 68.8% , Ronnie's win/loss is 39.4% ( worse than Chris Dickerson )

Dorian NEVER placed below 2nd place in ANY pro show. The lowest Phil placed was 5th. It took Phil 6 years to win the Olympia , it took Dorian 3 years. Dorian place second in his first Olympia , Phil 3rd.

I think the only one who could is Kai. Vic and Cedric maybe but both are past their primes , same with Dexter although he's been holding up well.

Phil gets a lot of heat but he really is the best of his generation. The guy delivers , he's pretty complete and come in good shape

No one but you cares about these percentages.  No one but you pulls this stuff up. Greatness is measured by Sandows, competition and overall physique. Seeing how the judging in the IFBB has a history of corruption, using percentages is hardly an accurate unit of measure.  I prefer to use my own eyes. Dorian winning with torn muscles, wide waist and gut tells me what I need to know about judging.

If the stats said Haney was #1 you'd care plenty. But they don't so they're useless to you. Whatever. Haney was great , Haney 8 straight retired in the best shape of his life. Great man , Great champ. Most dominate? No.

To clarify, I was not referring to winningest over a career, but just their reign as Mr. O.

As far as dominating the Mr. O is concerned, of course this is partly due to lack of competition.

Pity the 18 year old who considers a "career" in pro bodybuilding. That is the state of our "sport."

Haney is number 1.  He has the most Sandows while losing the least. Lets not forget he beat the so called most dominant Mr. O in the meantime. Dorian is first tier Mr. O for sure but you shouldn't be winning titles with torn muscles, guts and wide waists.  Dorian was the beginning of the end of great bodybuilding.

Most Sandows? Arnold could have won 10 or more if he wanted to. Doesn't say much. Haney was chasing Arnold's record. Arnold set the record to chase. And Haney LOST the muscularity round to Yates who was in his first Olympia contest ever despite being 10lbs lighter and being his only third pro show. Dorian forced Lee to retire! You can make a case that Dorian ' ruined ' bodybuilding but doesn't change facts. Dorian is the most dominant bodybuilder of all time.

Let me stop you before you even start.  Let's keep this to actual history vs. would haves and could haves.

Next, it doesn't matter who lost what round.  What matters in the end is who won.  Dorian did not force Haney to retire.  That is your opinion.

Don't kid yourself. Haney is the coolest, most decent Olympia ever, but Arnold DOMINATED that contest like no other. '70 to '80, if he wanted, eleven f'n titles. No one else comes close.

Actual history? Dorian win/loss proves that in actual history was more dominant.

Haney said in his acceptance speech he just learned how to peak the day of the contest and eluded he wasn't going to retire. Why do you think he did?  ;) We both know why , Dorian 1993 would have left Haney for dead.

And it does matter who lost what round. Haney in the best shape of his life LOST the muscularity round , front & rear lat spreads , front & rear double biceps , side chest , side triceps , ab-thigh LOST to Dorian , in his 2nd fucking pro show to a guy 10 pounds lighter LMAO that speaks volumes. Haney read the writing on the wall , he had everything to lose and nothing to gain by facing Dorian , you bet your ass Dorian was a factor in him retiring.

Arnold could have won from 1970 until probably 1984 if he wanted to. He knew there was no money in it , wanted to be a star. Arnold is bodybuilding , nobody beyond a few people know who Haney is.

Everyone here claims the 90s were the best an most competitive era in BB.

And Yates dominated that era.

Nothing against Haney, but his main competition was Gaspari.  Not even close to what Yates had to defend.

It's funny you say that because they said if Yates never came around Flex Wheeler would have probably beaten Haney. And great point , Haney's main competition was guys who were much lighter & smaller. Christain was taller , lighter and had zero legs. Demey was great but again to lean to compete.
