Soldier surrendered, pro-Erdogan civilians slit his throat while shouting "allahuakbar"

This is in a fucking Mosque, Erdogan supporters and policemen torture soldiers in a Mosque. Religion of peace and tolerance??!

"Qatar is Erdogan's closest Gulf ally, sharing his sympathies for the Muslim Brotherhood that formerly ruled Egypt and which is outlawed in other Gulf Arab states."

Kuwait's emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah congratulated Erdogan on "the success of legitimacy and the victory of democracy the will of the friendly Turkish people" who have been spared "much suffering."

Bahrain made a similar statement rejecting any attempt to undermine "constitutional legitimacy under the leadership" of Erdogan and his government and stability in Turkey.

Gaza's Hamas rulers, who have friendly ties with Qatar as well as Turkey's ruling Islamic-rooted AKP party "condemned the failed coup attempt" and "congratulated the people and the Turkish leadership for successfully protecting democracy."

Islamisation of the world. Disease.

Just another example of the suppressed Muslims being unfairly treated and acting out violently. Or maybe this story doesn't fit that narrative either. Hmmm....

the coup was Secular Turkey (what little remained of it) throwing a hail mary. Was do or die and I was hoping that the Kurds would go in and hoped Putin felt like stargazing as Erdogan took to the skies to escape!
Erdagon was flying everywhere seeking refuge, Turkey shot down a Russian jet in November. What goes around...
but nothing happened last night.
Shame.
Islamisation of the western world has just been given a massive boost. And Obama is supporting this.
I hope the secular Turkish coup gives the rest of us a push to act.

Sad that they couldn't pull it off. Would've added a glimmer of hope in the world.

reminded me of when  General Francis X. Hummel  tried taking over the rock and was not 100 percent committed to following through on his demands

seems a lot of the soldiers did not want to fire on civilians , so they just turned themselves in , they will all soon be lined up an executed for treason at point blank rage with AK47s

I know it's not my business or country,  but this is/has been eating at me. I woke up in the middle of the night to piss and checked my phone and saw it had been put down. It bothered me that Erdogan will now be strengthened and will not cede power. I believe he may become more emboldened and possibly take measures to take territory outside of Turkey. This dude is a Hitler type dictator and we are just seeing the beginning. We need to move our weapons out of there and sever ties. This may be looked back on as the beginning of something much larger.

Not really. Secular Muslims against fundamentalist Muslims. Big difference.

I hope this isn't the end of it and the Turkish youth reject further Islamification of their country. The coup was always going to fail though. As much as I dislike Erdogan, he is democratically elected so a military overthrow wouldn't work.

Stupidest thing I've heard all week.

The government in Thailand was democratically elected, until they were overthrown.
Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood were democratically elected, until they were overthrown.

...And that's just the last few years.

The coup's problems were in the facts that they didn't have enough men; they didn't manage to kill Ergodan fast; they didn't gain control of the media quickly enough.  That's all.

But the problem was since he had large amounts of support, those supporters were bound to take to the streets to fight the military. If the military started shooting their own citizens, they would quickly lose the support of all the Turkish population (including many who may have been against Erdogan).
An assassination would have been better I agree. The coup was poorly planned.

I do think that if Erdogan continues to fuck up the country, there will be a successful revolt one way or another.

They failed as they never had anyone spearhead the coup, none of them took charge...

Can't see that youtube vid because my phone acts odd on this site with those but that's a sad picture if those guys really gave their weapons up because they didn't want to shoot civilians. Now, they are getting hacked to pieces.

This is a FAKE coup. It's not that many soldiers thought they were participating in a real coup, but it's an intelligence operation.

It was tiny and manipulated.

A lot of people who pledged to join them stood down...

Oh There Will Be Another Coup, And No Soldier Will Surrender Ever Again. It May Be Civil War In Turkey, But The Cleansing Will Be Secularists, Cleaning Out The Islamists. Right Now, Secularists Are Looting Armories All Over Turkey, Of Guns And Ammo, While They Still Can. This Isn't Over Yet, Not By A Long Shot. Secularists Know That If They Don't Fight Now, They And Their Families Will Be Killed By The Islamic Lunatics.

It does seem like something Erdogan would welcome (or even plan) so he could justify giving more powers to himself and purging those who oppose him and his neo-ottoman ambitions.

You guys hit the spot!
There are always some anti government Generals in the army, they were given hope by the help of intelligence service and pro government generals.
They would normally start coup past midnight, but they were pushed to start operation too early, and without the promised military backup.
It was funny as hell, they didn't capture any member of the parliament, no ministers, they didn't capture any of the national televisions.
Don't forget, this is a fckin' country with so much coup know-how!
You capture the government officials, capture national televisions and with the help of couple of hundred tanks and elite commandos no citizens dare to break curfew, and its game over.
This coup was doomed in the first place, Erdogan got the intelligence beforehand, and as you guys said, he will use it to become an omnipotent president(read Hitler wannabe DICTATOR)
We'll kiss goodbye to secular Turkish Republic, reforms of Ataturk, modernity and all that.

Wonder what the chances are of Turkey going to the route of Afghanistan/Iran/Egypt...etc?
