I guess they wait to learn the race of the shooter before they make it the headline story. "RNC preparations" are more important today?

For the sake of black people, I hope the shooter wasn't black. Baton Rouge was fiercely racist BEFORE all this went down much less post-Alton Sterling, post-protests, post-cop shootings.

Well... we've been talking about police brutality here since getbig.com was opened up to the public and... since the very beginning, the overall consensus was that, they had it coming. I personally do not like that this is happening, as it undermines all the democratic institutions but... the way police act with those they are supposed to protect is, and was, insane.

The current backlash will most likely lead to more suppressive methods on the part of the cops, and a population begging the politicians for an overall overhaul of the police departments.

There are some cops out there with some really nasty attitudes.

I don't know, man. I hear what you are saying, but blowback on top of blowback will just lead to the man with the most might winning. I cannot condone violence.

Hopefully, positive change will come of all of these things, good and bad. No matter what, recent events are not sustainable in any way. My personal hope is Federal laws are passed overseeing local law enforcement because those guys are not ethical enough to police themselves.

I totally agree. The Federal government is going to have to step in because the state-level governments are a joke. They've been voided of any real power and corruption runs deep in every department.

As a side note: I live in a part of NY that is extremely white (99% white) and... last night, a black kid happened to get a flat tyre right in front of my house. The cops showed up within 2 minutes, and it was 5 cars surrounding this poor kid. They escorted the black kid back to the highway. WOW. I just went WWWWWOOOOOWWWWWW.

problem is governments tie their own hands with bureaucracy
In the UK a kid on a moped snatched an old ladies handbag, cops chased him he crashed and died, cops are now facing gross misconduct charges, now cops dont chase moped purse snatchers and as such its gone up tenfold.

In my opinion they should be chasing them and running over the fuckers.

Federal oversight is something you don't want. It will start the erosion process of states rights.
