Often, cops see a bulge, see a person reaching, and have a chance to pull their own weapons.   Not sure of laws here, but in TX, it was legal to walk around with two AR15s hanging off the shoulder.  Sure makes it easy for the shooter to get his licks in first.  If a shooter has to open suitcase/bag and orient, aim the weapon first, the cops have a fighting chance.

Cops see the gun, realize they just have a protesting prick, and turn their back.   Terrible.  Particularly when there are 2+ men with guns.  I like it much more when the cops have a moment to look at what case is in the hands, size up the threat, and when they do see a man with a rifle, they don't have to take time to ask him if he's there to murder, or just there to be a prick and is making a protest video for youtube.

Open carry is a problem.  Let all 50 states carry... concealed.
