The Blair Witch ushered in a new style of doing horror. I thought the first one was done well. Other horror movies have tried to emulate its style, but fail. But I am skeptical about 2.

This is #3, the first was brilliant. REC and Paranormal Activity used the same technique and both were fantastic. All the others were shit.

Keep in mind the first BWP was passed off as real and that's part of the reason it was so successful.  Yeah it doesn't have any CGI zombie demons but if you genuinely thought you were watching actual footage it was terrifying.

Not necessarily. I knew it was pure fiction going in, just like every other horror film ever made. Didn't lessen its effectiveness one bit. That "true story" gimmickry is just to lure in dummies.

Agree. Probably the last one of that type that has been good. It was different at the time. Even now it is better then those that have tried to emulate the style. Not a big fan of straight up bloody horror movies, etc. Blair witch had you use imagination.

Only sinister and a foreign film called "Silent House" have been good since.

agreed i saw it opening weekend before it went mainstream and got huge, i left the theater more scared than i've ever been and i've seen all the horror movies

 the movie is great for anybody that actually has an imagination
