His injuries that year were a real shame. We were going to see something really special that year from Dorian.

Muscletime photos, on the whole, are pretty awful.

Compare them to the pic you posted below - he looks insane there. Yates live had to be seen to understand. It's cliche at this point, but it's true.

This is so true. I hate when people dismiss the notion of having to see Yates live to truly understand how Great he was.

I was backstage at a contest in Michigan (1996) when he was getting ready to guest pose. I'm still awestruck
20 years later. They announced him as being 310 pounds and the dude had abs.

i saw Dorian in the street around that time in Birmingham near his gym. I didnt know who he wasnt until years later, but in real life he looked like a cartoon figure.

I saw him guest post that same year. His smallest bodypart was his head. He didn't even look real.

Yeah, that pic is the best at showing that, hands down. If you post it with a straight on muscletime photo from the front at the same show, his legs can actually look skinny and 2d. That's how guys like Hulkster who have never been to a show get caught up in thinking he was awful.

These guys on youtube recently recently released excellent
footage from that show. Way better than the IFBB video.
Yates had that old man muscle before 40.
