It was well played by Trump. Nothing will happen, because he has enough plausible deniability built into it (He's joked about Russia all week). Also, it drew people away from any democrat talk for much of the morning and afternoon yesterday. At this point, the only people defending Trump are the ones without that much depth of understanding of politics, history, and international relations.  This week, Trump promised to stop NATE helping the nations Russia is attacking, which will certainly help Russian power grow.  He called Putin a better president than obama, and said that putin killing off journalists was a sign of strength (just today on Morning Joe).   He also asked a foreign adversary, in time of war, to release 30,000 stolen emails containing classified info which puts our troops at risk, to benefit him politically with the promise of better treatment by our press.

At this point, I cannot debate with Trump supporters using logic/rational thought, because if they still support him, they're not doing so based upon logic or rational thought.  It's emotion for them.  And you can't debate emotion.
