Do they have a mental illness?  ???

At some point, they should have figured out that they won't go pro, yet they still dedicate their lives to pumping their body full of drugs and eating 6-8 meals a day and living the "lifestyle"

Well yeah I guess it is a kind of mental problem. Just like people who go to Hollywood and try be a famous actor and end up waiting tables for the rest of their lives.

What do you care at least they are following their dream, look at john meadows chase his pro card for 10 + years and finally got it so I guess he should have given up.

Yes. Mental illness. They are obsessed with people idolizing them at their local gym. People at their local gym treat them like they are God.

But once a year, they venture onto a national stage... where they promptly get their asses handed to them.

Didn't it take Chick 15 years or something? It was a smart move for him, got him exposure to stay relevant in the industry.

Short answer: Yes.

Like that Finnish Pro Jari "the Bull" Mentula, later "the Bullshit" Mentula, who got his pro card, were 16th in both of his pro shows and is still training and juicing, but never competing again because he can't do anything to his genetics.

If you cant make it to the top 5 as a pro, go do something else, the drugs required to stay competitive at that level without the earning power of being top 5 make it uneconomical to continue.
