i'm a 40 year old man, 200 pounds with some wrestling, TKD, and getbig posting experience of 15 odd years.

And there's no way in hades I would EVER go running in some random park or "woods" without a gun.   I'm not worried about the rape/afire, but I am worried about random robbers or running into a person out dumping a body who doesn't want any balding lookie-loos like me making waves.

I don't see it as living scared at all.  It's being aware of how the world really is.  I'm absolutely not scared when I walk at night with a glock - I enjoy the walk much more, knowing the outcome is very high that I get home from this walk.

That is messed up, but with 7 or 8 billion people on the planet, there just are some truly disturbed people. Like you said, it's some random fucked up thing you can't make sense of... but you can only try to be prepared.
