Rich used to train at Golds frequently when he placed high in the Olympia.  Despite what some people used to say, Rich was nice.  He trained hard and looked unreal each Fall.  Very focused.

Why is his bicep looking like that? Years of constant training? They look like Ronnie Colemans. What is the cause of the bicep atrophying like this? Even Adreas Cahling's is like this. I know guys that have taken substances for years and they are in their 60's and their bis look better than this.

My theory is that it is from years of GH use. I'm guessing GH lengthens tendons over time and is what causes the distorted muscle look that you see in a lot of the seasoned older pros (Palumbism).

Rich probably got the furthest with the least, genetics-wise, out of any pro. Second at the O twice is a big achievement considering. He was at his peak when I picked up my first bb mag. They pushed him as a really driven guy, he talked about how he would be willing to die for the title, how he trained so much and so hard he couldn't sleep and had constant diarrhea... funny things you remember from back in 1987 lol. Haney said he initially thought Rich was gay because he had no girlfriends, he just trained, was too intense in Haney's opinion. I cant see the point of that exercise, its the shortest range of motion possible
Way too much weight
Probably contributed to Ronnies back issues as well
