If you're talking boots - very few good work boots being made anymore- Red Wings are junk now, Herman Survivor out of business, Chippewa are still decent,  Wolverine , Georgia and Danner are up and down .. made in China too- a lot of their stuff anyway

For boots buy White's, Nicks, Wesco, Hoffman, Drew's or Viberg- all are EXPENSIVE but you can rebuild them and get literally decades out of them if you take care of them -all very similar in style and construction - all made in USA - Viberg is Canadian, nothing wrong with Canada

You're looking at mid $400's for a pair- on Ebay 1 /2 that price or less, like new condition

i had sketcher work shoes with very coushiny thick soles but they peel off in 6 months they only costed 35

its that dam cheap glue they use these days

Best work boots I've found so far are New Balance.  Sadly they don't make them anymore.   

Bates = 1 to 1.5 years before the soles tear off.
Red Wings = 2 years

I'm about to hit 3 years on my New Balance.  The treads are almost completely worn off, but the soles are still intact.  The leather is very faded, but still intact.  Best of all, they are still as comfortable as the day I bought them.

Who would have thought........

Cheap materials = low quality = cheap retail price = confused falcon

Does Wesco make any boots without the high heal?  Searching through their website, they all appear to have a 2 to 3 inch heal.

Wesco  does make boots with a standard heel, also check out White's boots, and Nick's also - every bit as good as Wesco- maybe better, White's and Nick's have a patented special arch to their construction , if right for you, they feel like sneakers after being broken in

I have Wesco Firestormers and Jobmasters, I also have White's and Nicks, I prefer the Nick's myself, a little better built I believe, the boots mentioned are all stitch down construction- generally considered a step above welted construction- plus the soles are glued, screwed, and stitched on- they CAN'T come off

A little less $ check out Hoffmans boots -great boot for roughly 1/2 the price- completely hand made in America .... you won't be disappointed  with them, gotta be the best boot value for the $ out there

Most likely it's the more expensive boots which will be better - as long as the stuff ain't manufactured in China you should be good to "go", in theory.
