Dimentia, sclerosis, and other causes of long term memory loss are part of the human experience. Sorry to break that to you, but its true. Nothing you or I can do about it. So the day you lose your memory is not the day you stop being human. Its the day you become a different kind of human. A sick human.

Your statement implied that it would just be easier to forget. You never implied it would be due to some disease. That, just forgetting painful things will be easier if not remembered, hence my metaphorical statement (that once you forget painful memories and lessons, you stop being human, barring certain human diseases).

I've never seen a good looking tat in my life, and the sag with age doesn't make them look any better. I remember a girl in high school got a winged fairy tattoo on her stomach. A few years later she got pregnant, and the winged fairy morphed in to a pterodactyl!

You are Samoan or some such culture where tattoos are a long held tradition

You are a service member and tattoo either your service symbol or a memorial for friends you have lost

You are in a gang or a biker group (a real one, like the kind that will skin off your tattoo if you are not really a member and have their symbol on you)

There is a demonstrable difference between the two groups. I am sure you will see both groups as stupid, insecure, etc (you will not be able to see how a tattoo differs between fitness gurus and century old tribes--fitness gurus show off to the world. Tribes are not showing off to anyone besides their own limited culture). However, as stated, big difference between tattooing these days and tattooing way back when.

Of course its group thinking. Your thoughts didn't just magically appear in your head, dingus. Your thoughts are informed in a variety of ways, and group thinking is often the most prevalent. You can't see the tatts clearly, and they never use lighter colours....why don't they got white coloured tatts ?

That's what I like to know.  They look ridiculous.  Especially, on real dark blacks.  And, none of them look good.  They either have some gang sign.  Or, with the women, they have some writing(a friend's lifeline) or some other markings that don't make sense.  Plus, what's with deal of tatting the chest, ladies??
