No, I liked it.  The juxtaposition of the drabness of the name Allen with any sort of promised epicosity was nicely incongruous.  And it retains a mystery.  We're left wondering if he's double the Allen for half the price, like socks for Christmas bland, OR if it's some sort of after-hours personality he assumes which whispers in your ear this is the me that no one sees.
