I still maintain Levrone will not step foot onstage.  The last minute pullout excuses will probably start this week.

Just to engage in fantasy though, I would love to see the powers that be try to transition bodybuilding to something smaller and more classical without the obvious massive drug doses look.  Maybe that's what's going on and they'll give it to Levrone as part of transitioning the standards.

The demographic group that is the Levrone cohort, men 40-55, spent more money than any other ever on bodybuilding before giving it up.  They'd love to get them back ping attention.

Flex magazine has a Phil Heath and Kevin Levrone pull out poster this month!

Check out his facial expressions/eyes. Guy looks tweaked to all hell.
Reminds me of Fat Lenny. Heath is the Obama of bodybuilding.

Heath can't even trash talk right.  Even the WWE guys can do it without being so overtly... unlikable.

Hoping he gets dethonged in the night show.

What a classless douche.  Refers to Kevin as "just another person."  ::)

It's hard to even watch him talk for a couple minutes.

When Kev announced he was going to compete, I thought he would do this as well, but I've changed my mind.  He's put too much into it to stop now.  He'll compete.

Felt the same way. I think he is guaranteed a placing that will not be an embarrassment.

Levrone is infusing some badly needed interest into this industry. Professional bodybuilding is dying a slow death. Less and less people give a shit about a bunch of overgrown men that have no other talent than to inject steroids, work out and eat what their masters tell them to eat.

People want to see humans on that stage which have bodies that look aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. They want to see proportions that while not easily attained by most is at the very least somewhat feasible. Now a days, you have walking, pharmaceutical experiments that reek of guts bulging through their abdominal wall (see: Branch Warren for instance).

There's a reason why Men's Physique is gaining so much traction. The simple answer is marketability. What you can market, you can also make money from. You can't use these overgrown behemoths for anything more than to pimp out fart powders, snake oils and magic potions. The people that run this industry have slowly come to this realization and they would really want for that classic bodybuilding look to come back. They would love for an era where more bodybuilders would look like Arnold in his prime. A figure that looks great in suits, everyday clothing and has a look that can seep into Hollywood.

For instance, the ROCK is huge and by every day standards, most people can't attain his look without a generous amount of steroids. At the very least though, you do know that if you work hard enough towards it, you might attain certain similarities to him, without drastically morphing your body into some strange, troll-looking creature.

Reality folks...That's what the old brass at the IFBB and the supplement companies are coming to terms with.

Even if Phil wins, he loses.  Kevin will be the people's champion.  Kevin is in Phil's head.

You can just tell how bugged he is by Kevin and that he's nervous as all hell. How many times did he say it didn't bother him? Most of the time when someone keeps saying how something doesn't bother them, it BOTHERS them. He has no class or respect, I despise this era of bodybuilding for putting such an idiot at the top. Every time I see that fat fucking face and neck I seem to die a little bit more on the inside :/

Well...
I expected a better, more encouraging Phil with a little more enthusiasm for the competition. But oh well. If it's clearly that impossible for any impact to be made then why the negativity and swipes about other athletes as if he represents every O competitor...

I think he gets a lot of shit from BB fans but this video doesn't help endear him to people.

In the end this is the IFBB's creation and instead of changing judging criteria for bodybuilding they keep adding new classes to make more money. If they were really looking to change the "look" Cedric would have won the Arnold.

Case in point; Roman Fritz took fourth in Tampa and has come into shows this year shredded but smaller then guys like Compton, Akim etc. Of course he is placed lower because of this.  As long as size the main factor we will have to look to other classes for attainable physiques.

Conditioning expectations is also something putting competitors at risk more then ever. The combo of size, drugs, and severe water drop can kill a competitor as we have seen (Joanna Wilson this year). Shredded glutes comes at a cost.

Honestly. I don't think there's anything wrong with what he said. I know this board is Phil Heath hate central, but he didn't say anything that was out of line or disrespectful.
