Did you get as lean as you wanted to this year? If not, do you think you would have gotten leaner on more calories?
There is such a thing as eating too little. I think a guy like Mentzer did that from what I remember from reading his journals. Too little protein and calories. But today you have pros dieting on 4000 calories of which half is protein and then worrying about burning muscle walking on the treadmill for 40 minutes at 3.5mph. Then when they place poorly they were flat or overdieted. Meanwhile it's obvious they still have fat to lose.
when I upped my cals the fat burning process kicked in again, I was totally exhausted on 1400 cals, I couldnt even walk the dogs, I had regular hypos and once had chest pains, I almost stopped my prep
I got as lean as I could within the timescales (10 weeks), I am going to diet for around 18 weeks next year but on higher cals (2500)
I should have been a lot harder in the hams and glutes,
Im eating around 3000-3500 a day now and am still quite lean.
