2016 Olympia - The elephant in the room, the stage line
« on: September 15, 2016, 11:47:32 AM »
We all know what will happen, Phil will try to inch his way beyond the set line on the stage to appear bigger than his competitors (2013 was the worst year). Why don't they enforce the rule of staying behind the drawn line? It's very easy, step beyond the line a second time and points are deducted.
Everyone except our current consecutive pageant winner abides by the rules and I don't think it's fair.

Anyway, it feels as made up as WWE. Phil will come in all cut and bloofy and "steal the show", Rami will unfortunately come in with a lot of water retention, pre-talks have us hyped that Dexter or Rhoden have a chance of 1st place, Branch will get his top 10 "because of his freak factor", Kevin will be the people's champion but his 90s physique will disgust the schmoes and the judges who will place him outside of top 10.

if the judges let him do it again, they lose all credibility and deserve to be called out.

its one thing for a coy veteran champion to sneak past in a few pics, a few years back.

it's a whole nother thing for him to do it constantly, every year, while they just ignore it.  the little dude onstage asks, point to the line, asks again, then shuffles off, and phil stands whereever the hell he wants.

let's try that in any other spot. Let shaq stand 2 feet closer for free throws.  Let brady's receivers put glue on their gloves.

shit like that ruins the credibility of the sport.  just don't do the pose until his ass moves back.  Judges, assert yourselves.

Unfortunately, this doesn't sound too far fetched.

I fully agree, it deteriorates the credibility of the judging. Why should one competitor be exempt from the rules that all else must abide? They might as well just hand him the trophy before the event starts and be done with it.

stepping over the line is an option open to all the competitors.

Have you seen Mr O? If anyone but Phil steps a quarter of an inch beyond that line they get a "behind the line please" immediately. Apparently they never notice when Phil does it and reluctantly warn him when other competitors complain. The option is only open to Phil, a gift from the judges.  :D

then they should ignore it and stay online with Phil until he moves back...

Why are we talking like the IFBB judges have any credibility?

Is this forum full of WWE believers and round-Earthers or something?

They should put a laser down the line and a buzzer on their posing trunks. Anyone who steps over the line after being warned the buzzer goes off and soiled manties light up. Then have points taken away...Phil Heath would come in dead last because he just couldn't help himself...It would sound like the Lunk Alarm going off at Planet Fitness during a Branch Warren workout...

Thank you exactly my thoughts.

Like they haven't lost their credibility long ago, Lea Thompson is head judge every year and is best buddies with competitors, lol it's a huge farce

It's like 30-40 % actual physique and the rest is politics and supplement deals

I wish some of the other athletes would point to his feet, and step out right next to him.

Refuse to move until Phil moves back.  Just stand there all arrogant, like he does.  Then the other men would step forward.

This crap about "an arnold-like shrewd move" is total garbage.  It's cheating and disobeying these feckless officials that won't stand up to "the champ"

Give him this.
Otherwise everyone will notice he's maybe only 1/2 as wide as all the others at best.

I can see how he maybe got away with it one year.  But he keeps doing this every year.

Baffling to see the judges just back down to him.  I hope levrone steps up and crosses the line too.

Simple fix, just have the line at the edge of the stage, if Phil crosses it then he ends up taking a dive off the stage.

Are you saying that placings at the Olympia are determined by the amount of semen the 'athletes' can carry in their rectum, not by the judges?
