Really good song. My favorite thing is to watch amateur musicians (guitarists) play covers of this tune on YouTube. Great stuff! Glad to hear Metallica is back in fighting shape!!!

I always thought the same thing.

Granted, they had a couple very good albums. Ride the Lightning and ...And Justice for All being my personal favorites.

However, back around the year 2000 they were described as my generation's Led Zeppelin. That certainly went way too far in describing them.

Their first 4 albums where some of metal history's greatest and most epic ever. Number 5 The Black Album was not so much thrash but still super heavy and in my ears still amazing. After that it went downhill fast unfortunately. Is it a coincidence that James and the band sobering up marked this downfall? They did their best work in the period they were also known as "Alcoholica" so just like BB's artists do there best work influenced by drugs.

After The Black Album James said in the documentary about aforementiond album that AJFA was a wall of sound/guitars and it felt good at the time but they realised they needed some guidance this time around for their next album because they wanted to move on. So it was a decision made by the band, they just wanted to make different sounding music.

If they are looking to get back to their roots now and make thrash metal again why can they not get their sound back? Is it because they are sober now and 25 years older? Their new thrash music doesn't have the flow and beautiful transitions and melody of their old work.

Back in the day, I used to love seeing both Guns N Roses & Metallica in concert. I remember the feuds these bands would have, as well as a few others.

I am glad to see both bands back in the fold.

Pretty Megadeth-ish with a bit of too much "nu-metal" for me.
