Those are mainly the immediate coastlines and Islands. We are voluntary, although still well within the current target range of the hurricane.

On the positive side, I am a built-in flotation device.

I lived in northern lee county in 2004 when charlie hit.  Many people died in port charlotte/punta gorda.  roofs of trailers or homes just pushed in on them.  If there's any doubt at all, get outta there, or at least sleep on the floor underneath something that'd catch the roof.  and dont go outside... wind doesn't kill ya, its the shit the wind throws around.  I gigged and hang out in charlotte county all the time back then - place was still rebuilding 2 years later.  light poles on I-75 were knocked over.   industrial sized AC units thrown hundreds of feet.  Cat4 is serious shit.

Hopefully shizzo will be carried off by this storm and land in a farmers field battered and bruised but ok only to be blown up by stray military rockets as he picks himself up and dusts himself off.

Shit looks to be getting real for people who live on the east coast of Florida. The latest track of Matthew, has it swiping through the eastern half of Florida, as a category 4 Hurricane (130 MPH) tomorrow night at approximately 8 P.M.  :-\

Here's an idea.  I could take your post, start a new thread and add a poll asking Getbig if they care about your circumstances.

Then I'll add random posts inciting mockery and pretend we're friends.

Would that help?

It's up to 140 MPH........ :-[

Don't mind me tonight guys, I am probably going to hang out here until the power probably goes off. Fortunately, we still have some time down here until shit hits the fan.

Then, who knows.

What do you mean? Then wait out the storm. Some people chose to leave, many are choosing to stay.

I'm the type that has to be here. I would constantly be wondering if my place got obliterated, or if people were looting my shit while I was gone.

The storm sounds scary, and I'm sure it will do a fair amount of damage to Florida, but I am optimistic that things might not turn out so bad.

The worst part of the hurricanes for my family 11-12 years ago, was going without power for 3-4 days. No structural damage to the house, and my brother and I were even dumb enough to go running in the streets during the middle of one.

I know they say the max winds are around 140, but hopefully the highest we actually get (where I am) is around 100.

There is really nothing you can do at this point, except to hope for the best.

I do not feel that my life is in danger if that is what you meant.

Was out on my  screened in patio through most of this here in Weston. That slight wobble to the north saved us a lot of damage. In Dade , Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

Great to hear that you are ok. That is why you always have hope and watch the predictions until the very last moment.

Most of us appear to have been extremely lucky. My parents home in St. Lucie County sustained no damage, and the power did not even go out!

I live in Martin County, and I sustained no damage, although my power did go out for about 8 hours.

You also have to remember something: It is the new's job to always present the worst possible case scenario. Even though I do cringe at the often, over sensationalized headlines that they come out with.

I am feeling very grateful and relieved on this day in history  ;)

Glad to hear that. We have pretty damn good technology now in predicting the exact path of Hurricanes. Have been through Andrew, Wilma, and all the other ones that affected S.FlL. Luckily never sustained any major damage through all of them.
