According to Alex Jones the challenger mission took off in 1776 instead of 1986... a full 210 years earlier. (210 being the weight of the original, Weishaupt designed, hamburger patty)
But due to transmission delays, people were watching it in 1986 oblivious to the fact that the rocket was powered by Texan gun powder... and thus explodified.

The government is evil enough to fake the explosion for some unknown reason but not quite evil enough to just kill everyone after faking the explosion.  Really the government wasn't evil at all.  They went to the trouble to procure very good jobs for everyone. 

That's the conspiracy theory here: The government likes to fuck with us every so often but they're actually very nice.
