I met Kovacs many years ago in Montreal. HUGE guy. He was at least 6'3" (he even looked 6'4"-6'5" tbh) and at the time around 400 pounds. Monster dude. Will never forget that.
Kovacs was not 6'3. I"m 6'3 and I was at least 2 to 3 inches taller than him. When I did business in Toronto I would meet up with my girlfriend at the time. She went to school with Greg. Claimed he had a heartattack and was a woman beater.
The first time I had any contact with Greg was at a backyard BBQ in, I think the place was called Thorold? Gregg was quiet. Everytime I met him he never spoke too much or very softly. Well, at the BBQ people were all standing in there small groups shooting the shit when all of sudden Gregg was bent over huffing and looking like he was in distress. His girlfriend was just standing there asking him if he was ok. Apparently Gregg was choking on some of the dried BBQ chicken breast and when he finally stood upright, smacked a plastic cup which has some soda in it. The cup hit some guy in the back of the leg. No one was laughing, more or less just getting uneasy that Gregg was pissed off. He stormed out with his girlfriend trying to keep up.
I met Gregg in other situations and took photos with all of us. He always...ALWAYS took photos with his right side to the camera. Why do I say this? because he was moving when others were in front of him or when he was talking and friends wanted a snapshot, he'd always say "wait, let me move to this side". I can only comment on what I was told by his classmates/friends and what my then girlfriend would say. Everytime I had an interaction with him after that he was fine. Nice guy. His arms though...were the size of my head. There were some times that when I saw him he looked great, other times he looked extremely bloated. I remember talking to him and some others while eating and he was out of breath trying to talk and chew at the same time.
Two IFBB Pro's would lodge at my house when they would come in for the contests. They would have there food confiscated at the airport so we would be preparing all the food in my Kitchen. Jim Quinn was one that I say next to having lunch with my two friends. His arms didn't come close to Kovacs...and Quinn was big.
