Trump

Members of Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union shout early in the morning outside the closing Trump Taj Mahal on Oct. 10, 2016, in Atlantic City, N.J. The sprawling Boardwalk casino shut down at 5:59 a.m., having failed to reach a deal with its union workers to restore health care and pension benefits that were taken away from them in bankruptcy court. Atlantic City, as a whole, is dead. Their monopoly ended when the racetracks started getting casinos and there was no reason to take a road trip to AC which, outside of the casinos, is a shithole.

Carl Ican owned that casino.  Trump has nothing to do with it.

The whole state is corrupt perhaps no city more than AC. A developer bought a luxury hotel called the Revel that opened and closed after about two years and the city is doing everything possible to make sure this beautiful high rise deluxe hotel on the beach never gets its electricity turned on.

Revel is currently owned by polo north. Its opening has been delayed by permits and regulations.

I was there when Ray Rice had his incident with his wife. Didn't see it, but was there. I go down to AC a couple of times a year and play some cards. I think the borgata is nice and it can be fun for a weekend once in a while.

They don't need to cheat, the game rules are so lousy they get a good % at most games. Plus if it ever got out that they did, it would be all over for them. But, if you mean what the government does with their share of the revenue then that's a different story.

Yes.

Trump owned a tiny stake in the casino from 2008 until a year or so ago when he gave up all shares. Hasn't had anything to do with the casino for close to a decade.

Trump Taj Mahal closes for good following bitter dispute with unions

Trump Taj Mahal, the Atlantic City casino-hotel Donald Trump once suggested was proof of his deal-making mastery, closed for good on Monday, putting 3,000 people out of work and further eroding the Republican’s message that he is an unmatched business success.

The casino closed at 6 a.m. Monday, just hours after Trump faced off with Hillary Clinton during the second presidential debate.

The Republican candidate in the race for the presidency — who took his Atlantic City casinos through bankruptcy four times...

FREAK, I'm definitely no casino business expert but I do believe that all major US casinos have been hurting financially since the crash around 2006.

I've certainly seen it happen here in LV.

Before the 'crash' all the bar patrons were three to four deep on a Friday evening after the construction workers got off. But that made no difference due to the fact that beer bar prices were so damn low that they's be passing buckets of beer to those who were unable to slap their $2 on the bar-top.

And in most cases it was difficult to find a vacant seat at any BJ table and an empty space at the craps table was an impossibility. (That was OnlyMe's game and he took up lot of 'spaces".

I do know that you understand House Percentages but some GetBiggers may not.

Every casino game of chance has a house percentage so over a lage amount of time , the casino can forecast the amount of money that that particular games takes in for the house.

And the majority of those House Percentages are somewhat the  same in every casino ..... But lately it's been very difficult to get ahead when playing Backjack because some big time casinos have reduced the blackjack winning hand from 3 to 2 to even money.

And that alone makes it very difficult to walk out a winner.

Only stupid people play any table with that payoff. Mostly young college students who have no idea what a great game it used to be.

Off track here a bit, but I felt like responding.

What started happening in 2005 was that racetracks started becoming "Racinos." It happened in NY, PA, MD & Delaware, all the states that surround NJ.

There is no reason to go to AC or Vegas when you can gamble locally.

This is the casino at Aqueduct Racetrack:

Resorts World Casino New York City hit the jackpot this year, becoming the single largest slot revenue gaming property in the country with more than $638 million in gross gaming revenues. The state was a big winner as well: The casino generated more than $435 million in tax revenues, with $280 million of that going directly to the state's education fund.

"While we never doubted this would be a successful venture, we have far exceeded any and all expectations we had for 2012 and can't wait to begin an even better 2013," said Michael Speller, president of Resorts World at Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park. "It's clear that New Yorkers and tourists alike are aware that there is a wonderful, world-class casino experience right here in Queens — minutes, not hours, away."

Speller said the increased education funding is a testament to the foresight of the state Legislature. When authorizing Video Lottery Terminals at state racetracks, the Legislature established a revenue-sharing model to directly benefit education.

But revenue for the state's education coffers is only one of the benefits in 2012, according to Speller. The gaming guru said that in the past 12 months, the casino has created more than 3,000 jobs for New Yorkers, with a majority of those positions going to Queens residents. The casino has also donated more than 1 percent of its annual profits to dozens of local community organizations in the borough and citywide.

The casino welcomed more than 10 million visitors to the facility in 2012 and future visitors will see an increase in amenities. Speller said the casino is setting up a Jamaica Station Lounge, where free shuttles will run every 10 minutes for customers from Long Island and Manhattan and will double its bus frequencies to all major populated areas.

The initiative is expected to complement the casino's new Metropolitan Transportation Authority connection to the A line, which is projected to open in early 2013 at the Aqueduct-North Conduit station.

"We are confident that as we continue enhancing our gaming and entertainment offerings for the next year, Queens and New York state will remain ... the big winners at Resorts World Casino," Speller said.

Genting New York, a subsidiary of the largest gambling company in England and Southeast Asia, opened the casino last fall, with 4,525 electronic slot machines and 475 electronic table games. The gaming giant converted the dilapidated grandstand at Aqueduct into an electronic gaming mecca packed with slot machines and a dizzying array of restaurants.

The Legislature began the process of amending the state constitution earlier this year to permit full table gaming. The next step in the process is another amendment and then the measure will go to voters in a referendum.

What killed AC is all the new local casino competitions and what thin Lizzy said. It was always a slum town with a strip of casinos.

And you're right about blackjack. The game has slowly degenerated in rules and cuts over the years. Its demise has been predicted ever since it was discovered it was beatable back in the 1960s, but it's becoming more and more of a reality.
