Car design peaked in the 90s aesthetically speaking. 90% of the gizmos they build in to jack up the price you don't even need. I'll take my s14 over any of the new cars in terms of looks.

I do however, love what Ford has been doing with their hot hatches. I'm hoping they do a fiesta RS that would be one bad little car  8)

2017 5 Series

Seems more like a facelift than a really new model....

Yes that 5 series is BORING! like you said, just a facelift on the exterior. Interior looks exactly the same. Having said that, I'd love one for free! Still a nice car, but nothing very new there. BMW seems to go through phases where their cars exterior looks are aweful. It took them so many years to get the 7 series to look even half way decent. It's like they can't get it right.

well the tide has changed they are still safe tenfold but they are in the market to sell more by better design and interiors and state of  the art electronics now,,,maintaining an older vehicle can get pricey but most maintences cost avg 500/1000 depending on whats needed oil/filters/brakes...suspension and other older wear parts on older vehicles are costly and any modules needed avg 1000/1500
newer cars are waste of money

Wouldn't the Bronco still be made by Ford? Hence, making it not prone to breaking down. I mean it would most likely have the engine of a Ford Explorer, Expedition, etc? Ford engines are battle tested and last forever!

So this is what half way decent looks like.

Great cars and very safe; one of the best choices for a family vehicle. Since you work for Volvo, how is reliability and maintenance cost?
Part of the reason why Volvo are safe cars is because they are in the shop all the time and not on the road. I used to work at a Volvo dealership and on the weekends the service line would wrap around the building.

newer cars are waste of money

Buying cars is all about mileage.  How many miles does it have on it and how many miles can I put on it.  I always buy Japanese cars which can usually get 200,000 miles if you maintain them properly.  If the car has 50,000 miles on the clock, I know I can put 150,000 miles on it.  On the other hand, if it has 150,000 miles on it, I can only put 50,000 miles on it.

Another thing you need to remember is most people can't work on their own cars, so they have to spend a lot of money to fix them.  You know how to fix a car, so it just comes down to the cost of parts.  So for you owning a new car doesn't make sense.   For most people who need a reliable car and don't want to spend a lot on repairs a new car or a leased car actually makes sense.  You have a monthly payment, but you also have reliable transportation and no repair bills.  My car has 160,000 miles on it and I've been averaging over $1500 a year in repair bills.

Beautiful.  I think its smart of them to bring back the 2003 body on a new chassis.  Great idea.  Style forward.

Palumboism: No, as a matter of fact it's uglier than a few years ago. Looks like shit to me. Mercedes has better exteriors! Like I said, they have funky years where the exterior of The 7 series look so bad! Sorry buddy, and that's not just my opinion. Especially for what that car costs fully loaded, there are better options. But if you like it? That's all that matters.  :D And in your second post you talk about wanting to be able to have a car that you can put 200, 000 miles on it. Well guess what??? That car with 200,000 miles is going to look like hell!!!! Some of us like cars that look good, and are not ancient and look like crap because it can get 200k miles on it. So if you like old ass beat up cars with 2k on them. Have at it. ::)

I usually buy cars with 100,000 miles on them that are in mint condition and sell them with 200,000, looking exactly the same as the day I bought them.  I'm currently driving a 2005 Subaru Outback LL Bean edition with leather seats, a flat six, and AWD that looks brand new.   My last car was a 2000 Outback that I sold at 200,000 miles looking just as good as the day I bought it. In America we drive more than in Europe and most of the mileage is highway mileage.

I understand the 7 Series had some controversial years with what was known as the Bangle Butt, referring to Chris Bangle the head of BMW design.  I never had a problem with the Bangle Butt.

Did you know that Subaru has historically been the car choice of lesbians and they specifically have targeted them in advertising.  Owning a Subaru was/is considered a silent calling card for being a homosexual/lesbian.

I'm aware of the fact that lesbians like Outbacks.  It doesn't bother me and I would not factor it into my considerations of buying a third one.

High mileage in just 3 or 4 years = very young car with low price. Ideal with say 4 cilinder Toyota or Hondas imo
They can do a lot more than 200,000 miles with very minor repair costs I think

I prefer a perfectly maintained 4 year young 125,000 miler over an 8 year old 60,000 mile car. Most buyers are more afraid of high mileage than of an old car.

I  work for Volvo service xc90 and s90 sedan are outstanding looks wise...
they really made a hitrun with the design on both... To bad the xc90 has had alot of troubles here in Sweden with chassi fit.. The doors not lined in,  frontliights frogeyed same with the fitting on the trunkdoor.. For thr r version on many vcars it looks like someone sawed uneven with a knife in the plastic to make room for towbar

Look at this guys new car.. Many more have had the same problem

I am looking for a new car but am somewhat worried about CVTs and am primarily interested in a Subaru and require an automatic transmission due to being handicapable and from what I see the CVT is the only auto available on a Lezbaru.  ;D

I've driven both the Outback and Forester with the CVT and was impressed by how well they worked.  I can't comment on the reliablity.

I drive a 251,000 mile Honda with cvt, works perfect. Small engine but very low rpm because of the cvt
Honda advises to change the cvt fluid every 40,000 km or 25,000 miles

Toyota cvt transmissions have a very good reputation reliability wise I think

Most of the new cars this year carry a very evolutionary design theme even thought they are clean sheet designs.

Gayer than driving a car in general. People on here getting in slap fights over sedan styling.

Driving a Subaru is not silent code for anything. It screams.
