I bet that he regrets stepping away at that point. He probably could've done some "damage" at the 2002 Olympia with Cutler absent, and with Coleman at his worst.

Shawn Ray was pretty fucking good! Symmetry of peace. Also Did know how to pose!

He had atleast 5-6 year more in him to progress...but maybe smart to quit before body say stop!

he had no business ever beating flex, cormier, or Mr. Levrone

he blamed his placing 2nd on talking and complaining too much, i think his talking got him better placings

From this to this I dont understand why he let himself go like that, I mean once you get to that level it does not take much to stay in shape, just watch what you eat and do some basic training in the gym, how can he be happy being a fat slob.

Shawn did the right thing for his health. He was not going to win the Mr Olympia which was his goal. Best to walk away with your organs intact.

As far as Melvin Anthony.....yes, he's pretty skinny. Most people quit due to illness after using drugs for so long

What was melvins illness? As far as I know he was done with bbing and enjoying life , doesn't even follow it much if at all nowadays

Melvin would have that "I don't lift" look during the offseason while he was in his prime.

His body responded to the drugs very rapidly.

i think flatop shawn ray looked better than totally shaved head ray,he had different look ,part of it was he looked mature build wise later but i think 88-95-96 he looked best.

he looked the exact same way every year

and it's easy to be consistent when you only compete once a year and just try to refine rather than get bigger

What about '94? I know most people look to that one as his best, even Shawn himself.
