Not sure why people think it's confusing. There's nothing confusing about it. There's a park where human like droids act out western scenarios. People pay to go and be part of it. They can rape, kill and do anything they want to the droids. They even show one of the earlier droids moved in a real mechanical way but over time the technology has allowed them to develop even better more lifelike movements and behavior. Every day the droids go through the same scenarios. It's like those books that depending on the choice the guests make they can make the story different. So much that one person has been going for 30 years and still hasn't seen all of the situations he can get in.
The creator though is having a God complex and keeps sneaking in code to give the droids memories and feelings. So when a guy goes and rapes the same droid daily it will start remembering the events than being rebooted daily. There's no secret or suspense. It's more about the morality of people. Just because it's a droid, if it looks, smells and acts like a person would you do it what you wouldn't to real people?
