See a lot of guys in my gym that only hit a few certain exercises. Pretty much the typical ignorant gympro permabulker, living under the smith machine doing endless inclines, then straight to the rack to do shrugs and standing reverse flyes. Then throw some biceps in.

not a fan of overpowering traps. I never train them, prefer my shoulders to overpower my traps if anything.

I have to disagree.  While of course you want big shoulders having a thick neck and traps makes you look much more powerful (which makes sense because thats what you generally need to develop that look).

Overdeveloped, sloping traps can emphasize narrowness.

Yep, they grow super easy on steroids so no need, IMO. Prefer that look as well.

Posture of peace.

It's not so much the traps, but rather the extreme hunched over shoulders and total lack of upper pec development that makes him look so bad. Brock Lesnar's trap:delt ratio is way out of whack, but he still looks okay. As long as everything else is decent, the traps really can't be too big IMO. When you're wearing clothes with nothing exposed, big traps are biggest sign that you lift. The bigger the better.

How the shoulder vs traps develop is 90% genetic.
Traps will grow from just training delts, they will "overpower" if your genes say so.

The neck is a bit of a 'Goldilocks' muscle too - too skinny or thick and it throws off the look...
