Over the years I've seen some pretty ridiculous bodybuilding photography. The sad part is even today, we see horrible photos of bodybuilders done by so called professionals. Bodyscapes, art, posing outside or in studio are fine. But what about the following...

Bodybuilders dressing up as army men.

Bodybuilders dressing up like construction workers.

Bodybuilders dressing up like boxers hitting a heavy bag.

Bodybuilders dressing up in costumes like the grim reaper.

etc. etc.

Who are these photos geared towards? Women don't find these photos erotic, nice or even attractive. These photos are geared towards homosexual men and their fantasies. I mean what is the photographer trying to get across when doing a photoshoot like this? Its hilarious that a "professional" photographer can get away with being called a "professional" when doing a shoot like this.  And please...no more shooting on railroad tracks. Its so played out and very dated...70's and early 80's. Its horrible and illegal to shoot on railroad tracks and real photogs know this.

Maybe in 2017 we'll see some photographer dress up a bodybuilder like an HVAC repair man fixing the ice machine at the Mirage? One can only hope.

If you read my post which you didn't or maybe you have some sort of retardism, I have a problem with dumb, poorly executed photoshoots that make the bodybuilder look like a clown.
Lets face it...posing a bodybuilder in an industrial urban decay is boring and played out. Even Mick Arvilla had one done like that. Where is the creativity with these photographers?
Whats next, putting them in a basketball uniform? What about a male cheerleader? I mean this uniform bullshit has been exhausted already.

 Actually I think this topic is part of a much bigger topics and that's bodybuilding's dependence on photography.  Without photography, bodybuilding would never have existed.  And sexual preference has nothing to do with that.  How many straight guys have been inspired to be bodybuilders by looking at photographs of other bodybuilders?  All of them!  Without photography bodybuilding, in the past and up to today, would not be what it is.

As for the gay dressing of bodybuilder's photographs, of course there is the gay segment of the bodybuilding subculture that likes these dressed up photos.  I must add, I think it's a much smaller segment (but economically crucial to the subculture) than is portrayed here on Getbig.
