I'm so lost when it comes to politics and the lingo associated with it.
  I do respect ppl that know, in depth at that, the very subject that defines us as a nation. Even ppl from across the pond have a strong understanding of our entire political system.

If you just went by popular vote, candidates would just spend time and money in highly populated areas. New York/Cali/Florida/Texas. All the "fly over" States would be left behind and forgotten. All the money would be moved to very highly populated states. Imagine everybody in the US just moving to Cali/Florida and New York. Those places are already dog shit, run into the ground as it is.


There would be no Senate either. It was established so less populated states had the same representation as the more populated ones.
