So . . . back on topic . . . . lol

I can only imagine the meltdowns we will see if Republicans not only keep the House, but actually make gains.

If they blow the lid of this corruption it could happen.

Gaining in the House will be extremely difficult because of the sheer number of seats the Republicans already have (and now will be forced to defend) BUT

If the Republicans can retain the House and gain a handful of seats in the Senate...yeah that should be considered a home run. Especially when you take into account the media onslaught against Trump and the fact that a sitting president's party is generally expected to catch a significant ass whipping during a mid term.

The Democrats have not performed well in a mid term since 2006, and that was right in the middle of an unpopular war and Bush's second term. It took that for the Dems to come out.

Plus the Democrats still seemingly have no message whatsoever short of name calling and Trump Delusion(Derangement) Syndrome meltdowns. Just look at the Leftys on here. The topics they bring up. Their posts. The vast majority of the people from the states the Democrats need to win in order to ensure Legislative relevance simply do not care.

And they have alienated large portions of the Midwest and Rust Belt which they have been able to count on to one degree or another for the past few decades(especially The Rust Belt)

I can't believe I allowed myself to get caught up in this silly crap...but I did.

I agree retaining the House and picking up a few seats in the Senate would be a home run.  I think the media is manufacturing a "blue wave" in the same way they manufactured a Clinton runaway win in 2016.

LOTS of wishful thinking on your part.
It's likely the dems take back the house but the senate will be close.
Why?
The dems have started a new playbook with a slate of new candidates that fit the district they run in.
The GOP is running the same style person and that won't keep the house.

New playbook? Please expand

As much as Howard likes to reference sounds coming out of his ass, it appears "talking out of it" is the newest trick he has been working on.

C'mon now, unless the statement and ref agrees with your world view , it's gonna be labeled "fake news" by your crowd.
It's a waste of time to play that game with diehard supporters on either side.
I don't always need to be a parrot and just repeat what some other news site or journalist wrote.
I think for myself, make my own analysis and post it .  It's called "independent thought". ;)

Howard, feel free to answer the question.

Wait, I found the answer. Here is the "new" playbook:

>sides with:
>ANTIFA
>illegals
>North Korea
>Iran
>Hamas
>MS-13

against:
>border wall/security
>free speech
>ICE, police, law enforcement

wants to:
>impeach Trump
>complete control of your healthcare
>give citizenship to illegals
>raise min. wage to $15/hr
>ban guns
>raise your taxes

Poll: Claire McCaskill Trails GOP Challengers by 7, 16 Percent

Missouri Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill trails not one but two Republican challengers in head-to-head matchups, according to a poll released Tuesday.
The poll by Gravis Marketing — commissioned by Republican candidate Austin Peterson — shows the incumbent trailing state Attorney General Josh Hawley and libertarian-leaning Petersen by more than the margin of error.

In the first match-up, Hawley was picked by 50 percent of respondents and McCaskill was chosen by 43 percent. In the second, 56 percent of respondents chose Petersen, and 40 percent picked McCaskill. The margin of error for the survey was 3.4 percentage points,” reports USA Today.

In response to the poll, Petersen said, “Both (Hawley and McCaskill) have shown themselves to be ladder-climbing career politicians who prioritize professional gain over honest representation of the electorate.

“After nearly a year of hearing Missourians express their frustration with the insider politics in Jefferson City and Washington on the campaign trail, I can’t say I’m surprised by these results.”

Last week, a Morning Consult poll showed more than half of Missourians say they want McCaskill to go, with the Democrat registering an approval rating of just 38 percent. That figure gives her the lowest job-approval numbers of all her incumbent Democrat colleagues up for election in states won by Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

Despite leading the Republican field, Hawley’s conservative critics describe his campaign as listless and disengaged, often opting to lift weights at the gym instead of meeting with Missouri political leaders.

POLITICO writes:

Hawley’s snubs have antagonized potential allies. Wagner, a former Missouri GOP chair and George W. Bush-era U.S. ambassador who has deep ties to the state’s political and donor class, took herself out of Senate contention more than 10 months ago. Yet Hawley still hasn’t asked her for her support or taken steps to smooth things over with the suburban St. Louis congresswoman, who many believe withdrew after recognizing that Hawley was the party’s first choice. In doing so, he’s left himself without an ally who could have otherwise worked the state aggressively on his behalf.

“I am personally baffled and disappointed that the guy I’ve had on my show numerous times over the last four years and have been supportive of has been MIA,” St. Louis radio show host Mark Reardon told POLITICO.

“I’m pissed. I’m frustrated.”

“I like the guy; I think he’d be a good U.S. senator,” Reardon added.

“But this worries me. I don’t like the pattern

Look at dem Connor Lambs win in the special election for congress in SW Penn.
They get candidates that are a naturally better fit to run in various districts.

They have a deep, diverse slate of candidates running for everything from congress to dog catcher .
The dems are energized and have a lot of women running.

Most of these female dems are more authentic then Hillary and have a real passion for running.
Stacy Abrams just won the dem primary for Gov with 75% of the vote here in Ga.
She's  a black female with a Yale law degree and was a leader in the state legislature for years.

She'll a legit contender for GOV, but it won't be easy against an established , well liked, white republican in Ga.
We'll know how it falls in NOV.

Yes... like the Democrat candidate for Governor in Tx?  ::)

There is a good chance turnout for the Democrat Gubernatorial primary runoff will be less than 449k which would be the worst in 98 years. IN RAW NUMBERS. Like TOTAL people coming out to vote.

Texas population then - 4.7 million

Texas population now - 28.3 million.

In these four Texas counties, no one voted in the Democratic primary runoffs

Hall, King, Lynn and McMullen counties held Democratic runoff elections but no one voted. Each county only had one Democratic matchup on their ballots: the gubernatorial race between Lupe Valdez and Andrew White.

Voter turnout in Tuesday’s runoffs was abysmal. Fewer than 450,000 Texans cast ballots in the race, compared to 1 million that voted in the Democratic primary.

That trend was particularly clear in four small, rural counties – King, Lynn and Hall counties in Northwest Texas and McMullen County in South Texas – where not a single person voted in the Democratic runoffs. Each county had only one matchup on their May 22 ballots: the gubernatorial race between former Dallas County sheriff Lupe Valdez and Houston businessman Andrew White.

Pollster to Dem Candidates: Focus on Mueller Indictments
realclearpolitics ^ | 05/24/2018 | Caitlin Huey-Burns
Posted on 5/24/2018, 8:21:32 AM by ChicagoConservative27

With the special counsel investigation into Russian election interference now in its second year, Democratic pollsters are offering the party a way to hone a persuasive counterargument to President Trump's revved up rhetoric against Robert Mueller: talk less about the 2016 election and more about indictments handed down thus far.

A new survey by Navigator Research, a group of top Democratic strategists and public opinion experts, finds that while 97 percent of Americans have heard about the Mueller probe, nearly 60 percent don't believe it has uncovered any crimes.

The ongoing investigation has so far resulted in two dozen indictments, including that of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, and a couple of campaign associates have pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators. But the findings of the Navigator survey indicate that while most Americans say the investigation should continue, they don't think it has produced much so far.

Whites have fled the Democratic Party. Here’s how the nation got there.
Washington Post ^ | May 22, 2018 | Joshua N. Zingher
Posted on 5/24/2018, 10:16:26 AM

With the 2018 midterms months away and the 2020 presidential election cycle approaching rapidly, Democrats are considering how to improve their poor showings in 2014 and 2016. The party has been debating — sometimes heatedly — how to do this. Which voters should they target? How should Democrats target them?

But here’s what’s clear: White voters have been fleeing the Democratic Party, and that’s a big reason Democrats are looking to rebound from back-to-back losses.

Whites have slowly but consistently moved away from the Democratic Party. These recent losses are on top of Democrats’ losses among Southern whites during the 1960s and 1970s after Democrats’ support of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Bill Clinton won 49 percent of the white two-party vote in 1996. Al Gore won 43 percent in 2000. John F. Kerry won 41 percent in 2004. Barack Obama won a slightly larger share in 2008, but then dropped to only 39 percent in his 2012 reelection bid. Hillary Clinton got the same percentage as Obama.

Obama was able to mask the Democratic Party’s weakness among whites by prompting record-high turnout among African Americans, as well as strong turnout from other Democratic-leaning minority groups. Hillary Clinton was unable to generate the same level of enthusiasm from racial and ethnic minorities.

RCP’s Sean Trende: ‘Energized’ Base Improving Chance of GOP Keeping House in Midterms

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” RealClearPolitics’ Sean Trende said the Republicans prospects of keeping the majority in the House of Representatives in the November midterm elections had improved significantly.

Trende said, “There’s a couple of things going on. I think the good economic news is starting to break through. I think people are starting to question where the Mueller investigation is going. I think it had kept the president down for a while. And I think the tax cuts energized the Republican base and are playing a role in the president’s improving fortunes.”

He continued, “Well, I think if you looked six months ago, you would say it was doomsday for the Republicans with the Republican down in the 30s, showing a double-digit lead for Democrats. But that’s just not the world we’re in today. The president is up into the low to mid-40s, and his job approval, he generic ballot has closed to a four-point lead for the Democrats, so I think we’ve gone from Democrats being heavy favorites to take the House to something of a dead heat and maybe a thumb on the scale for the Republicans.”

On California, Trende added, “I think it’s a real concern for the Democrats. They have this top two primary system where everyone runs in the same race, and the top two make it to the election. There’s a lot of Democrats running in some of these races. They could divide the democratic vote, and you could end up with two Republicans in the general election shutting the Democrats out, which is sort of a nightmare scenario for Democrats.”

Evidently Shumer and Pelosi drove to the station in Washington DC with the highest fuel prices as a photo op and to start a campaign based on gas prices. An act of desperation!
