Twisting poses can be very illusory. Anyway, I was never a fan of these "peeled" guys. I believe bodybuilding should be "size first".

His conditioning was his Achilles heel for years , he manged to tie it all together in 82/83 but then started to come in to heavy and it showed.

Yeah, he never managed to recapture that earlier look. I remember that he had a decent stretch in the very late '80s, but by the time Dorian started winning Samir was no longer a threat at all.

By the time Haney started winning Samir was no longer a threat. Samir was the reigning Mr Olympia and Lee defeated him. Samir was always one of my favorites

Samir '83 was near perfect. It's a shame that he never achieved that level of conditioning again.

When he nailed his water retention problem and came in sub 190 pounds he was very impressive. That being said he looked insane here in 1990 at over 200 pounds (7 years after his Mr. Olympia win) and imo he was better at this competition than he had ever been and possibly even better than his 1983 version.

Samir was and is great. stayed very lean all year. Looked just about perfect in his prime. Hamstrings were his only real weakness

size only donīt win Shows....so many big Bodybuilders are out there who never get even close to a procard.

create an Illusion with Quality wins Shows.....and so he did in his Peak-time.
I believe 1982 he was overlooked at the Olympia in London. But the talk after his 1982 package was his first step to be really recognized as a possible candidate for the Mr. Olympia title in 1983.
Samir is still in touch with many german fans who know him from the Olympia in Munich. He prepared the last weeks before the Olympia in Munich and trained in the legendary "Athletenschmiede" (Reinhold Pregler was the owner, RIP) with Erwin Knoller who was a top Amateur in the early eighties, and Samir still today is talking only in good words about his time and Training Partners in Munich.
