My wife and I  never had kids, so we enjoyed the rewards from many working years in our professions.

Seriously marriage and kids is one of the worst things you can do to yourself all the guys I know who got married with kids got fat out of shape and their face looks stressed out, now you have to be slaving yourself to save up college funds and all that bullshit hell no.
 I love my stress free life I get to travel have casual relationships and nobody cant touch my money.

My wife of the past 5 years, never wanted kids, same as me.

Like me, she considered them as work, money and stress you didn't need.

I had a wonderful 2 parent childhood in "leave it to beaver" land.
From age 16, I started to think seriously about my adult lifestyle.

I saw plenty of Beatnik Hippy types and thought they were dirty bums.
You needed an education and legit career to take care of yourself.

I also saw plenty of adults with kids , in unhappy marriages .
Life raising children looked like a tedious, stressful existence.
Married with kids and a mortgage didn't look too good to me.
The wife/mom looked bitchy and the husband/dads looked like Al Bundy.

A few middle aged guys were divorced or never married and seemed cool.
But, to me hitting on babes half your age in the disco, looked pathetic.

For me , having a real relationship with a girl I found sexy was the ticket.
Granted, some of these didn't last, but that's life . You keep your head,
lick your wounds and move on.

I've seen too many divorced men , paying thru the nose,  because of kids to support .
 I see divorced men , switching the kids out on  weekends, in a McDonald's parking low .
Since they had kids , he has to deal with this bitter ex-wife for YEARS after the final divorce.

I've cringed from observing "gold diggers" looking for a man to take care of them.
I have no moral issues with prostitution , but, never wanted to have sex with a whore.

My ( current ) wife is a real gem.
She's pretty, smart and my best friend.
We're married and partners , which allows us a better standard of living then being single.
Plus, it's nice to spend my days with someone I love, understand and respect.

I also know being a parent is a very important, cherished aspect of many people's life.
It may not have been meant for me and my wife, but others may be called for it.

I'm happy, secure and have no axes to grind or anything left to prove .

Same as being a dad, marriage isn't the ideal situation for plenty of men.
Aprox. half the guys getting married, are meant to be single.
NO man should ever feel "required " to get married or have children.

It's pretty simple. Just listen to your head and heart. Then , CHOOSE the lifestyle you want.
Rather then bitch and complain, make the needed changes to achieve it.

For example, I've seen plenty of men in unhappy marriages always bitching how it sucks.
My reply is always ; " If it sucks that bad, man up, get divorced and accept the consequences . "

All I know for sure, is that there is no perfect answer that applies to everyone.

I'm not sure if this applies, but you might find it interesting.
My mom divorced my dad after 23 yrs together.
She remarried a man with 4 kids . One of my step brothers asked me advice on going into the USMC.
I just completed my 4 years of active duty so I was a credible source.

Upon listening to him, I knew the marines were not the right place for him.
He ended up having a good career in the Navy instead.

At my mom's funeral last year, he reminded me of that conversation and thanked me again.

I'm often reminded that just because something works for you, doesn't mean it's right for everyone.

1. Married with children
