DICKERSON - Good, but Mr O worthy?
« on: November 22, 2016, 02:02:20 PM »
He had some good attributes, especially his calves, but it's hard to come to terms with him winning it all...

Who was a worse Mr. O? Franco in '81 or Dickerson in '82?

Columbu '81 was worse than Dickerson, but certainly two of the most lackluster ones in the pair of them.

.. Any other year, he wouldn't have stood a chance, but worst 'O' or not; he was the best onstage the night he won and a deserving winner .. If you really analyze his physique he was very complete not unlike Frank Zane

When Dickerson was at the top of his game he was amazing. He was never a big guy.  You would have had to see him back in the day standing next to other stars to appreciate him.  He had density and looked like he was carved out of ice compared to the softness some guys displayed.  He should have been a three time Olympia.  Realize he competed for a crazy length of time.  Maybe 20 plus years. When he competed for the Mr. America contest that was huge back in the day he had to have athletic points. Imagine that today with the bloated fatsos in the Olympia. They get tired walking on a treadmill. Dickerson had to actually Olympic lift the day of the contest to get his athletic points. The snatch, press and clean and jerk. They also had to be interviewed to ensure they could talk to the press.

He was a great poser who could hide his weaknesses and accentuate his strengths. I have no problem with him as a mr o. He had a very classic build.

I was there at the London MrOlympia & Seeing Him Made No Difference.
He Was Not The Best That Night.

Personally -- The Worst Mr O.

There were half a dozen more guys in 1982 worthy of the title. Not a good bodybuilder imo. Short, no mass, deformed (torn) body parts. Just not good at all.

Dickerson was a superstar between 80 and 82. Density,  proportion and conditioning.
Much better than Franco. He should have stopped his carreer once the signs of hgh were visible and tore his biceps and pecs.
