« on: November 28, 2016, 05:17:00 PM »
If you ate per day
- 2 lennys protein cookies (720 cals)
- 1 full stuffed vegetarian burrito with peppers, onions, rice, black and pinto beans (~800-900 cals)
- 6 peices of salmon nigiri, and 8 plain tuna rolls (tsunami combo pack from whole foods. (590 cals)

training; some low intensity 30 min walking on treadmill and low rep heavy training not to failure

ive ate similar, in my twenties i would cut on this amount. now it seems to not work in my mid 30s. old age sux. i have to diet on like 1600-1800 to see any results now

Funny thing is I posted my calories last week, and everyone jumped on me for eating 1600-1800 being 190-200 lbs.

Now being 34, I have to eat this low to see results.  Anything more I maintain or gain fat.

I'm a lifetime natural, so I don't have things helping me burn the extra calories like most of the meat heads on here.

I'm about to turn 30, 4500 cals per day... Run to / walk from work (5 mi each way) plus walk to grocery store, 30-60 min lazy weights per day.

Ever since I 'bulked' in college, I never found myself able to go back to the tiny amounts that normal people seem to eat, except of course during my stint with galenikos diet plan.

In the end I think calorie math just simply doesn't work out... It's only good to track changes.  Trying to add everything up using formulas, comparing yourself to other people, it never works out right.

When you set your calories so low for long periods of time it will fuck up your metabolism, 1800 calories for a grown man is very little, try this mon-15cal x bodyweight, tues 14cal x bw, wed 13cal x bw, thurs 12cal x bw, fri 11cal x bw, sat 10cal x bw, Sunday cheat day if you want or atleast throw in a cheat meal. Stay away from sugars, fried foods, processed foods, and foods high in saturated fat. Give this a shot for a month. You have nothing really to lose.

Looking good in the mirror is a hazard to your health. I know what it is like to be lean. I also know what it is like for my metabolism to be reduced to shit. When I was at my leanest, I was also at my sickest. Upper respiratory infections, colds, etc....

Safety fat is your friend. We are mammals after all.

1600-1800 seems a bit low, but your body will tell you.  If your strength and energy plummet and you have soft boners, then you obviously aren't eating enough.  If you feel good and slowly leaning out, then it's sufficient.  Also, what is lean to you?  Getting down to something like 6% isn't really healthy.  Somewhere around 12% is the best looking and most healthy spot in my opinion.

You didn't say you were leaning out

I thought I did.

I can maintain at 2000-2200, but i get fat over time.

If I consistently jump around from 1600-1800 and bust my ass in the gym and cardio I see good results.

So if you're eating this little at the age of 34 just imagine your caloric intake at 40, what will it be 1200-1400 to maintain leaness?

Do you have an office job where you are basically sitting all day? Then I could see it.

I  still have a good metabolism for 48 with very little cardio other than treadmill couple times a week ,I really don't count calories, just eat few  food  meals and add some whey thrown in cereal/greek yogurt or shake additional 2x a day .I like' be there's' approach on eating ,,but you gague how you look in mirror on what to cut or add depending on how you want to look .

Your metabolic rate is determined by your lean body mass and your activity levels not your age.
