today i tried seated barbel pressing for delts but i felt like i wasnt recovered yet and not strong
so i just said fuck this shit, did calves and called it a day
better to rest more and lift heavy ass weight

I can't go full intensity on a muscle group more than once a week, sometimes up to 10 days with deads and squats. But that's high volume and all out assault.
The whole "it takes 48 hrs for a muscle group to recover " was instilled in my head back in my youth and it's one of the reasons why I overtrained too much and wasted a lot of time. Go do deadlifts to failure and tell me you're recovered in 2 days.
But, that's not to say you can't train more frequently on the same muscle groups. Some people do a lighter, more endurance routine and they can adapt to it. Other people like powerlifters practice their moves frequently but aren't pushing it. But this is never specified properly.
Generally speaking, if your joints aren't giving you problems you're probably getting adequate recovery. It's better than relying on soreness.
