DORIAN: 1996 Olympia performance
« on: November 30, 2016, 06:27:19 AM »
This seems to be the year people talk about the least, but I'm not sure why. Maybe because he wasn't as dominating as '95, but there still wasn't as much controversy. Looks like he came in lighter this year in the upper body.

Saw that one live.   When they all lined up, Nasser looked like it was his.....then they turned around and it was all over.

Do you agree that Nasser was better in '96 than '97?

Dorian over dieted and came in flat in 1996 Mr. Olympia.

Honestly, I don't think about bodybuilding from 20 years ago.

Dorian over dieted and came in flat in 1996 Mr. Olympia.

So did Levrone. What's crazy is that Levrone was his heaviest bodyweight ever earlier in the year at the Arnold's (where he won it), where he weighed 259 pounds, but showed up at 240 pounds at the Mr. Olympia, small, flat and depleted. The following year (1997) Kevin was 253 pounds and Dorian was his heaviest ever onstage at 269 pounds.

Nasser should have won it in 1996 and Ray was overlooked as well.

It only seems that way to you because I only react to posts when they're incorrect, which many of yours happen to be on that subject.

But overall, I don't have any idea of what Nasser looked like between two years that occurred two decades ago, outside of the contest I attended.

He really shouldn't have.  I didn't appear that way to me in person, and the judges agreed.

In my section of the crowd, everyone laughed when Yates turned around, since he was so drastically superior.  The one back shot that been posted here 1000x wasn't  a good representation, which can be verified by looking at multiple back shots from the show.

There's no way to judge a show by pics.  It's easy to find shots where Dorian looks flat but everyone who's ever seen him in person verifies how dense and shredded he was.

Dorian looked dense and shredded, but he even admitted he was flat. Just compare his 1996 physique to his other years and it's obvious.

I watched the broadcast and the commentators were saying that Kevin overdieted and came in light and flat. He literally weighed 19 pounds less than he did at the Arnolds earlier that year. He did fill out a lot for the Grand Prix shows though and as we know he came in huge in 97 and 98.

96 was arguably Dorian's best year in terms of conditioning.

If you can find some of the 96 Grand Prix's online, they show a lot of prejudging. When Dorian turns around he's so far ahead he could have no chest no ab definition and he would still win.

Here's the video Dubai, India style. Nasser blew him away from the front and it wasn't close. Nasser's quad size to Dorians was shocking...But when they turned around Dorian looked insane. Olympia have always been won from the back up to that point and thru the Coleman years...

the fact that you care to read and respond to posts discussing 20 year old contests is proof that you do care about 20 year old contests

whether the posts are "incorrect" or not, you care no matter how you try to spin it

Good video, thanks for posting.  2 observations:

1) amazing how many dead people and kidney failures you see in the introduction.

2) no matter how many times I see him, how sh1t was Dillet at posing??  Just stand f**king still man!  Twitching like a chihuaha with food poisoning there in the callout...

In 1996, Nasser let the IFBB walk all over him.

In 2001, Jay Cutler failed his diuretic test. The IFBB tried to strip his placing and not pay him his check

Jay jut let his lawyers do the talking.... and the IFBB backed down.
