I agree, while it's a non-renewable resource, oil/gas are the most reasonable solutions to our problems, I see no possible long term consequences, non-sustainable practices are always the best route.
The carbon cycle is just a made up thing like the water cycle, adding trillions of tonnes of carbon from mining can't alter the cycle, just like adding 10 liters to a full bathtub wouldn't make it overflow, it's just water!!!
