Looking at some of the pics, Doz looks insanely huge this year, and his back looked bigger than ever. He was just a tank. I wonder if he avoided the tricep tear and was able to continue training into the show, how amazing he could have been, and maybe kept his streak going longer.

No doubt.  Imagine if he could have actually trained the final 3 weeks!

Fux looks thicker there. Bigger waist, of course, but much thicker chest, delts, arms

Fux was the only guy that could stand next to Dorian and not get destroyed in teh back shots.

Well he was his heaviest Mr. O weight at 269 pounds I believe. He still weighed less than Nasser, Dillett and Fux.

BUT, he was a mess that year as well. He had a lot more problems going for him than just his tricep  :-X

Nasser ANNIHILATING Yates in 1997. It's criminal that Nasser didn't win.

Btw, Mike Francois was so depleted at this point of his career. A shell of what he was only 2 years earlier. It's also interesting to note that Mike was 5'8" (at best) and he really doesn't look 2" shorter than Dorian. Makes me question if Dorian was really 5'10"?

His stomach starting to getting a bit big, especially evident in the pic where he's walking down the steps.

With his tear just a few weeks out of that Olympia he could not train and the tear caused a lot of water retention hence the size and slightly water logged look. Without the tears he would still be the best but his motivation at that point was dwindling and Nasser and Coleman were obviously catching up so he would have had to step it up a notch to still be the best.

Francois would show up in top form at the Arnold Classic; but then he would be off at the Olympia.

Cool. I've met some of the guys, but never Dorian. Good to know that we're the same height  8) (that's where the similarities end though  :P)

turn them around.

A Mr. Olympia should not be awarded the title just based on their back alone. That's a crock of shit. Nasser was the better OVERALL bodybuilder both in 1996 and 1997.

There was no evidence of oil in 1997. He was still in top form (slightly less than 1996 though). 1998/1999 was when shit started going off the tracks for him.

I didn't say anything about him oiling in '97, I just call him Nassoil. Deservedly so.

He was better in '98 than '97 and I still believe he was oiling up by '97, but it didn't become real obvious until '99.

i honestly believe dorian should have quit trying to get bigger after 93 and just kept improving on that look.  he probably wouldnt have gotten injured and been able to compete a few more years.

Early signs of distended bellies there...then it quickly became the norm a few years after.

No he wasn't, especially in 96.

Lost on conditioning, and lost on side tri / lat spread / back double bi / rear lat spread for starters.
