I only partially agree. I went to LA and the folks there were rude. No one said "hello" back when greeted, thanks for holding the door, or waived when you let them by in traffic.

I've been in a couple of big San Francisco ones and have even seen some form of earthquake rolling motion while standing on the third floor overlooking a golf course.

And then years earlier hearing an earthquake 'approach' that sounded similar to the approach of a million ton train falling off the railroad tracks.

Geologists who spend their lifetimes studying  the Andreas Fault-line believe that major quakes along that fault-line occur just about every hundred years.

So the big one in 1906 is overdue and is expected to hit hard to make up for lost time.

I have heard that modern structures and freeway overpasses are now constructed on rolling foundations in an effort to 'roll with the punches' and not fall over.

So we are all safe now when the big one happens providing that we have time to head to one of those structures or freeway overpasses. Otherwise all is lost!

I love it when people say it's due for a big one to make up for lost time. What a crock, like the big one to hit Yellowstone is due. There is no due date for nature's natural events. The earthquake will hit when it hits, and it will not be looking to make up for lost time, lol. It will just happen. Science of these events can not predict the when or the scale of the event. They never have been able to nor will they.
