NASSER'S fall - 98 vs 99
« on: December 21, 2016, 04:40:28 AM »
He won the 99 Arnold looking far worse than the years before. This was the start of the decline and over-reliance on oil, but he seemed to really lose a lot in that one year by any standard. It isn't like age was getting the best of him.

First two pics are 98 O.

99 O and biceps were shapeless blobs

I have a lot to say about Nasser.  He had read my posts on here and really liked them.  Coming from a person like him who I am confident was above average in IQ, it meant a lot to me.

Did you fear for his health back then and if so did you warn him?

Looking at that lineup picture, it's crazy how much size Kevin had lost from the 98 Mr. O to the 99 Arnold Classic.

99 Arnold Classic was the last time Nasser looked good (normal). Come the time of the Mr. O, he was already a mess.

LOL!!!

To be honest, I started fearing for the health of bodybuilders after Nasser, I would say.  You might even say, because of Nasser.  Between 2011 and 2013, we lost quite a few competitive bodybuilders, and it really got on my mind.  You could find a photo with Luke Wood and Art Atwood in it, or another photo with Nasser with Art.  It was crazy to think that we could find pictures where more than one bodybuilder in the photo had passed.

I remember the days of Kidney-Colon-Dead.  Now we have some that are like Dead-Dead-Dead-Almost Dead.  It's sad stuff.

Nasser's morale was hit bad after the 97 Olympia injustice, which took a toll on how strict he trained and dieted. Had he won the 97 O as he deserved to I think he would have had more solid placing years after that.

A few other setbacks were a biceps tear during the 98 Olympia prep and marital problems from around 2000/2001.

He had about a 15 year run as a pro, not all 15 years can be at his prime. Just like no one remembers Tyson's legacy by his last few fights.
