It is clearly a stretch but this may be the connection between Vance and Thiel. Vance was a law student at Yale and Peter Thiel was delivering a guest lecture. This meeting began a long professional and financial relationship between them.

The Guardian reported that Thiel's venture capital firm was the sole investor behind a San Francisco co-working and social club called Yass, "a headquarters and hangout for a new generation of queer people".

And then there are the stories about Vance's eyeliner. He probably has naturally dark thick eye lashes.
