He's an Olympic lifter. Sets of 3, 2 and at times singles make up the bulk of training. Probably wants to stay in his weight class, but could advance to a heavier class, with his natural body frame, if wanting too.
Olympic lifters are also very powerful in front squats, a bases for both the Olympic lifts. Regular squats can be used as an assist exercise in most training sessions. That squat (in video) would be passed by any judge...excellent form..
No diss to my PL'ing friends, but Olympic lifters are the true athletes of the lifting game, given timing, quickness (not the same thing) and with a weight moving a longer distance. A 500lb bench is respectable (a very short distance). But a 500lb clean & jerk, beginning from the floor and traveling a greater distance to overhead is exceptional. Some men may have a hard time DL'ing that weight. Everything is relative in lifting, depends on your personal goals..and your training style. BB'ing, PL'ing or Olympic lifting......your pick.
