I was lucky enough to listen to Fidel speak in public about 20 years ago... having spent dozens of weeks in Cuba over the years I have a mixed view of history there and the impact of the communist revolution. Given how the rest of the region evolved using different foreign policy tactics I'm not sure CUba was any worse off... certainly Bautista and the CIA cronies to put him in power were not in favor of freedom or democracy.

Fair enough. My honest answer to that is no, I wouldn't wish harm on him because I know him. That's not to say I would be surprised if there wasn't an attempt to take him out during a game. I have no QB's in the NFL but quite few skill and linemen that do not share Kaepernick's views and frankly, they think he should keep his mouth shut and just play football.

The NFL and ESPN have taken a revenue hit because of his antics and my bet is that next season the niners franchise will take one as well at least with national sales of merchandise, not locally.

The army has zero to do with the NFL. They just do the anthem because it's good publicity.

I guess one could argue that they are paying respect to those that defend freedom, thus allowing them to play. But as you said, only certain sports do this, usually the ones where ton of money is involved. But yeah, the NFL has zero to do with football.
