I think that Ronnie was smart. He was smart enough to stick to basic exercises. He did lots of Barbell Rows, T-Bar Rows, Deadlifts, Squats, Front Squats, Military Presses, Barbell Shrugs, and heavy Barbell Bench Presses.
Most of his fellow pros focused on Cable movements and Hammer Strength movements.
Yes, I realize that Ronnie (like Yates) ended up with injuries. But Ronnie did the hard work that was needed to accomplish his goals.
